Distinguish PVC-free from plastic-free in product information

Check what a PVC-free statement covers without expanding it into an unsupported plastic-free claim.

Identify the stated claim

Record the exact wording, product variant, source and date of a PVC-free statement. Ask what the source includes and excludes. A claim about one named polymer is narrower than a claim about all plastic constituents; inspect the evidence rather than translating a marketing phrase into a different whole-product statement.

List the complete construction

Record face material, adhesive, ink, finish, laminate, backing and relevant attachments. Ask for missing composition details with exact subject and units where applicable. Some information may remain confidential or unconfirmed; keep that limitation visible instead of asserting that an omitted constituent is absent from the finished item.

Keep other questions separate

Review service suitability, retained-support compatibility and destination independently from composition wording. A supported material exclusion does not answer lifecycle performance, biodegradability, treatment acceptance or all other environmental attributes. If comparison is needed, use equivalent service and scoped evidence rather than ranking products solely from a polymer exclusion.

Fictional wording review

A supplier declares its film face PVC-free, while the buyer’s draft calls the finished adhesive graphic plastic-free. The reviewer requests complete assembly information and returns the wording to the narrower supported subject. Unknown adhesive and finish composition stay open; no alternative sustainability claim is invented to replace the rejected phrase.

Make public wording reviewable

Store the exact source version, claim subject, qualification and responsible wording approval. Recheck after substitutions or new finishing. The worksheet helps carry a bounded claim into the brief, but it does not independently verify composition or confer permission for scheme marks. Current public copy should say only what the available evidence actually supports.

  • Preserve exact claim wording.
  • Check every assembly constituent.
  • Avoid broadening a material exclusion.
