Start with the decision
Write the proposed claim verbatim and identify the impression a reader is likely to receive. Separate product, component, service, company and campaign subjects. Broad wording can imply more than the underlying supplier statement.
Build the record
Record the factual quantity or property, denominator, method, geography, period and comparison baseline where relevant. Attach the actual source and version. Name qualifications needed to preserve the supported scope.
Check before acting
Review against the official CMA guidance and the complete presentation. Request missing facts rather than upgrading a declaration to assurance. Store publication locations and the responsible reviewer so corrections can reach every affected surface.
Worked example — illustrative
A fictional page says a display saves material but compares only graphic-face mass. The reviewer asks for equivalent service and support information. The wording is narrowed to the supported component fact while the programme comparison remains unresolved. The source and qualification stay visible beside the claim.
Keep a useful handover
Record the responsible person, decision date and next review trigger with the evidence version. Keep planned actions distinguishable from confirmed activity. If later information changes the result, preserve the earlier record and update current guidance.
