Work through the decision
Record frame make, model, revision and measured geometry. Identify the required textile stretch, edge fixing, tensioning and manufacturer instructions. A replacement graphic should use confirmed fit data rather than measurements guessed from a picture. Keep safe physical fit, availability and general model similarity as separate decisions.
A fictional worked example
A fictional replacement graphic has the right nominal width but a different edge profile. The designer asks for manufacturer confirmation of the pairing and leaves production pending. Dimensions alone would not reveal the interface mismatch.
Evidence and authority limit
A conceptual mockup or dimensional match does not provide structural, tension or installation approval.
Put it into practice
Prepare a compatibility measurement packet for a frame and proposed replacement textile.
Keep this record: Exact revisions, interfaces, measurements and a responsible confirmation request.
- Frame and graphic versions are precise.
- The edge/tension interface is checked.
- Unconfirmed fit is not released for production.
