Work through the decision

Identify the actual work completed and any changed parts or interfaces. Record the appropriate inspector, date, observations and evidence against the intended use. Recheck component completeness, compatibility and claims affected by the repair. Failed or unresolved checks remain visible; the repair invoice or closed task does not supply the missing condition decision.

A fictional worked example

A fictional asset receives a replacement fixing but has not been checked under the intended application. The custodian records work complete and inspection pending. The asset remains unavailable until the responsible release decision is recorded.

Evidence and authority limit

An inspection record is only as strong as the real competence, evidence and scope it documents.

Put it into practice

Create a post-repair record with one completed check and one pending compatibility question.

Keep this record: A dated scoped inspection and unresolved readiness action.

  • Completed repair and inspection are separate.
  • Changed components trigger relevant review.
  • Unresolved critical checks block release.
