Work through the decision

Identify consequential questions such as colour handling, PDF structure, transparency, separations, overprint, structural fit or venue constraints. Determine which actual tool or responsible specialist can answer them. Preserve the basic-check report as useful preparation, while recording the specialist integration or service as disconnected until it is genuinely configured or accepted.

A fictional worked example

In a fictional example, the public tool calculates final raster resolution but cannot inspect a supplied PDF’s production separations. The designer hands the exact file version to the chosen print provider and records its actual response rather than inventing a successful professional-preflight receipt.

Evidence and authority limit

Naming a provider or integration does not mean it is connected, accepted, competent for every task or independently endorsing the platform.

Put it into practice

Allocate three unresolved checks to a real role or configured service category, without fabricating a result.

Keep this record: A specialist handoff list with exact scope, input version and expected actual evidence.

  • Each check has an appropriate responsible role.
  • Disconnected services are labelled honestly.
  • Actual responses are separate from requested checks.
