Work through the decision

Match arriving assets/batches to the accepted and dispatched records. Record the responsible receiver, date, measured/count quantity, unit and receipt reference. Capture contamination, damage and rejected or missing items separately. Request outcome evidence for what remains accepted; the receipt itself documents arrival within its own scope.

A fictional worked example

A fictional batch dispatches 100 kg, receives 90 kg and rejects 10 kg of that received load. The learner records 10 kg unresolved in transit, 80 kg accepted and the rejected amount separately. No recycled quantity is inferred.

Evidence and authority limit

Receiving an item or mass is not evidence of recycling, disposal or any particular treatment.

Put it into practice

Reconcile a fictional partial receipt with dispatch, rejection and unresolved quantities.

Keep this record: A dated receiver receipt and quantity balance without assumed treatment.

  • Receipt matches a unique batch.
  • Quantities use compatible units.
  • Rejected and unresolved fractions remain visible.
