Work through the decision

Record the artwork, brief, assembly or evidence version being shared. State whether the recipient may view, comment, approve or export it. Later revisions can invalidate affected approvals, so link decisions to the exact reviewed version and class. Keep accepted historical snapshots rather than changing a shared file beneath a previous decision.

A fictional worked example

A fictional assembly receives a laminate after the original comparison. The learner shares the new revision and requests fresh scope review. The earlier base-sheet conclusion remains historical instead of being silently attached to the modified construction.

Evidence and authority limit

A shared preview or comment is not a final technical, financial or production approval.

Put it into practice

Create a versioned handoff for a changed assembly and specify which earlier conclusions require renewed review.

Keep this record: Exact version, requested decision class, permitted action and change consequences.

  • The recipient sees an identified version.
  • Approval classes remain separate.
  • Changed content does not inherit every old approval.
