Original Leaf research brief

Find an EPD without treating the library as an endorsement

An environmental-declaration library identifies product-specific records. Each record still needs identity, validity, method and application checks.

Research question

An environmental-declaration library identifies product-specific records. Each record still needs identity, validity, method and application checks.

    A worked project scenario

A specifier searches a manufacturer’s name and finds multiple declarations for different products. A grouped film declaration and a board declaration cannot be assigned to another product by brand alone.

      Method to use

Search both manufacturer and exact product. Capture registration number, declaration owner, declared unit, PCR, modules, validity and document revision. Download the current original for review and record any registry/PDF discrepancy. Treat other libraries as separate discovery routes with their own rules.

        Limits of the conclusion

Library presence is not an approved-supplier relationship or a universal environmental ranking. Leaf does not claim a complete global EPD inventory.

          Questions for the actual application

          • Which exact source, unit and version support the decision?
          • Which project quantities are measured, and which remain assumptions?
          • What could change the result after installation or recovery?

          Scope and limitations

          • Library presence is not an approved-supplier relationship or a universal environmental ranking. Leaf does not claim a complete global EPD inventory.
