Original Leaf research brief

Include pretreatment, fixation and rejects in textile trials

Two textile print routes can require different auxiliary processes. Comparison should follow the accepted finished textile through every required stage.

Research question

Two textile print routes can require different auxiliary processes. Comparison should follow the accepted finished textile through every required stage.

    A worked project scenario

A workshop compares an integrated fixation system with its existing print-and-finish route for the same display textile. The workshop needs equal colour and handling performance, not simply equal printer speed.

      Method to use

Define the accepted-output requirement, then meter printing and required fixation, pretreatment or washing separately. Record water, inks, consumables, start-up waste and rejected fabric. Use actual usable area as the denominator and state the trial workload.

        Limits of the conclusion

A manufacturer describes its own process. Leaf has not measured either route and makes no numerical efficiency claim for the proposed installation.

          Questions for the actual application

          • Which exact source, unit and version support the decision?
          • Which project quantities are measured, and which remain assumptions?
          • What could change the result after installation or recovery?

          Scope and limitations

          • A manufacturer describes its own process. Leaf has not measured either route and makes no numerical efficiency claim for the proposed installation.
